Why do people become fat without eating too much?
It happens to most of the people that they don’t eat too much but still have issues of overweight and obesity. Our lifestyle has changed so much and we don’t take care of eating habits and hygiene which causes unwanted changes to our body. There are some common reasons for gaining weight without eating too much:
- Just eating highly processed food
If you eat food in a moderate quantity but still become fat, it means your diet is not nutritious or healthy. The same happens when people eat only processed foods that lack essential nutrients such as protein and fiber. Some processed foods are also chemically treated with preservatives or additives to enhance the taste.
- Sedentary lifestyle
A sedentary lifestyle is also the reason for gaining weight unintentionally. If you spend most of the time just sitting in one place then it is sure that you may face an overweight issue in the future. In a serious situation, you can also suffer from obesity.
- Undiagnosed medical condition
Maybe, you have some medical conditions which are affecting your health. It would be better if you consult a doctor as any small undiagnosed disease can cause severe medical issues later. Depression and hypothyroidism like certain medical issues can result in an unnecessary weight gain.
- Genetic influences
Genes play a huge role in your weight. If both of your parents have obesity then there are 80% chances that you will also develop obesity. The genetic influence on weight disorders varies from person to person. It can affect your appetite and also can affect your body-fat distribution.
- Not getting enough sleep
Today’s generation has poor bedtime habits and because of this, most are in very bad shape. According to research; who sleep fewer than 6 hours daily have a higher BMI (Body Mass Index). So, it is important that you manage your sleep-schedule for well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
