Why am I feeling depressed all of a sudden?
It happens with us that we suddenly become depressed from nowhere. Our lifestyle plays a very important role in this case. In some cases, where we do not do any work and just sit idle then it is very common that we will feel depression and loneliness. There are many reasons which cause sudden depressions in us as follows:
- Overindulging at meals and alcoholic beverages
This is very common on weekends that we overindulge on foods and drinks and then feel depressed the next day. When we eat really bad food at a weekend party, our tummy flora becomes off and causes a short-term chemical imbalance in the brain and then affects our mood. It is true that alcohol is a natural depressant and too much alcohol can depress our nervous system. So, it is important to eat right and drink moderately.
- Hiding depression too much
This is also the reason when we suddenly become depressed. When we hide our little mental issues and ignore them; at any particular time, these all tiny problems come out together and cause depressions. It is important that we don’t ignore the signals which need to be noticed.
- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
It happens to many people that they become depressed whenever the season changes. It is also called Seasonal Affective Disorder. For example; in a long winter season, we get very low sunlight which affects our mental health. Light therapy or Vitamin D is a great way to help with SAD issues.
- The way we are
Sometimes, we get depressed without any cause. It is just in our nature that we become just depressed and after some time we come back to our old mood. It would be better if we consult a therapist so that we can learn to handle our mood.
